Freddy Garcia returns for another season with the Yankees.

The Yankees agreed on a one-year contract with right-hander Freddy Garcia on Thursday, according to a report on ESPNNewYork.com.

I am very happy with this news.  Garcia proved he can pitch and win in NYC – something that is always a question mark when the Yankees (or the Mets) bring in a new pitcher.  If your team's number 4/5 starter has a .600 winning percentage you are doing very well indeed.  And the fact that Garcia took the offer just about instantly tells you how much he wants to come back and be a part of this Yankees team and organization.  You can bet Freddy is not drinking up a storm on his off days, unlike certain Bosox vets.  He wants to win.  He won a championship in 2005 with the White Sox (winning pitcher of the deciding game) and knows that the Yankees are the place to be if he wants to have the best shot in the AL to win it all in 2012.
