So, I’ve been thinking about Ukraine. I think about Ukraine a lot, actually. I think I have reached peak mental shrieking over restrictions on how Ukraine can use donated weapons. In the last couple days ruzzian cruelty has reached new states of appalling.
One example (from the Kyiv Post)
Russian forces launched a missile attack on Poltava on Tuesday, Sept. 3, striking the city with two ballistic missiles just minutes after an air raid alert was issued.
“We know about 49 dead and 219 injured people. Search teams continue to dismantle the rubble at the site,” Poltava Governor Philip Pronin said on Telegram, in a toll also given by the defense ministry.
The attack, which occurred at approximately 9:10 a.m., targeted an educational institution and a nearby hospital, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Zelensky described the attack as one of the deadliest strikes by Russian forces since the start of the full-scale war.
The UK government condemned the attack, calling it “sickening.”
Germany said that Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s brutality “knows no limits.”
There is no possible justification for such an attack. And, there is no possible justification for preventing Ukraine from destroying the sites from which the ruzzians launch these horrific attacks.
The Ukrainian government reports that over 500 churches, mosques, synagogues, and other religious sites have been damaged or destroyed sin the start of the war, the most recent is a mosque in Kyiv damaged on 2 September.
The ruzzians have been targeting playgrounds, schools, and most recently an orphanage. This along with constant attacks on energy and water infrastructure.
Then there is this (from the Kyiv Independent)
Russian attacks have damaged one of the two overhead power lines at the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, the state nuclear energy company Energoatom reported on Sep. 3.
The plant was damaged the day before and is currently receiving power from the Ukrainian power grid, according to the agency.
The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, the largest nuclear plant in Europe, has been under Russian occupation since March 2022. Throughout its occupation, the plant has been repeatedly disconnected from the Ukrainian power grid due to Russian attacks on the country's energy infrastructure.
"In case of damage to the second power line, an emergency will arise due to the loss of external power supply to the pumps that cool the reactor cores and the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant's fuel pools," Energoatom warned.
Ukrainian specialists are not yet able to inspect the damage and begin repairs, as there is a threat of repeated shelling by Russian troops, according to Energoatom.
Refusing to let Ukraine properly and effectively defend itself is, in effect, aiding and abetting the commission of war crimes by ruzzia. This must stop immediately.
